Frequently asked questions

We thought you'd ask! So we've assembled a short list of answers
to the most common questions we get.

How does PowerPicker's pricing work?

PowerPicker operates under our Shared Savings model. For every dollar we save you, we take twenty cents. No upfront costs, and if you don’t save money, it’s free.

Does PowerPicker work for electricity and gas?

Yes! PowerPicker handles your total energy needs wherever possible.

Does PowerPicker work in my state? Can I really change suppliers?

PowerPicker currently supports the following states, so if you have any properties in those areas, you likely can!

  • Electric: Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York*, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas*
  • Gas: Connecticut*, DC, Florida, Georgia, Illinois*, Indiana*, Iowa*, Kentucky, Maryland*, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire*, New Jersey, New Mexico*, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas*, West Virginia, Wyoming*

*Depends on details and location of property

How much can I expect to save?

Typical savings are 15-30% off your power bill, while gas generally has less savings available. Depending on your property size and usage, hundreds to thousands of dollars per year are reasonable.

How long until I start saving?

PowerPicker kicks in right after you sign up, so you should see any available savings within the first couple of billing cycles, or about a month.

Will my property's service have any downtime? What happens in an outage?

Using PowerPicker has zero downtime, with no changes to your existing support. You continue to work with your utility when there are power outages or other issues, and they’re still responsible for keeping the lights on and gas flowing.

Can I sign up for only renewable or clean energy?

Yes! We support only 100% renewable energy on an opt-in basis.

Because the cost of clean energy is variable, often more expensive, and may not have a baseline reference rate with your utility, we charge either 20% of savings per our typical Shared Savings model, or 6% of monthly supply spend (the fraction of your bill PowerPicker can effect), whichever is larger.

What happens if I decide to leave PowerPicker?

No problem. PowerPicker has Instant Move-out - if you’re not completely happy, let us know via email and we’ll cancel your service. We’ll also handle swapping your properties back to their original utility providers or leave them as they are, whichever you prefer.

What happens if I see a cancellation, monthly, or enrollment fee on my bill?

If for whatever reason you get an unexpected fee due to PowerPicker’s supplier management platform, we will balance it against your savings and refund 100% of any net loss, per our Positive Promise guarantee.

What do you do with my property data?

We use your property data to manage your suppliers and improve our services. We will never sell your data to anyone for any reason. You are our customer - not a product.
